# Privacy policy

The short version: this storefront runs without accounts. It uses Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to understand how the site is used (and Analytics to measure Google Ads conversions), but your cart lives in your own browser, a quote request goes to our sales desk by email, and payment happens on Shopify's hosted checkout at shop.solarthingz.com.

## Analytics and advertising

We use **Google Analytics 4** to see how visitors find and use the site — pages viewed, products viewed, searches, add-to-cart and checkout steps — along with a first-party visit id and any campaign (UTM) parameters in the link you arrived from. It loads through Google's `gtag.js` tag, which sets Google Analytics cookies and sends this usage data to Google; Google processes it under the [Google privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy). We don't sell this data or use it to identify you personally.

That same Analytics data is used to measure **Google Ads** conversions — which ads led to a quote or an order. There is no separate advertising pixel embedded on this site; conversions are imported from Analytics on our side, and we don't run cross-site remarketing from the storefront today.

Two things keep the footprint small. The tag is **lazy-loaded** — it doesn't download until you first interact with the page (or a few seconds pass), so a quick bounce sends little or nothing. And it runs under Google **Consent Mode v2**; as a US business storefront, analytics and ads storage are granted by default. To opt out, install Google's [Analytics opt-out browser add-on](https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or block analytics cookies (a Do-Not-Track / Global Privacy Control signal from your browser or an extension works too).

We also use **PostHog**, a product-analytics tool, for the same kind of usage picture — pages viewed, clicks on buttons and links, searches and cart steps — under a random first-party identifier stored in your browser. Its script and the data it collects travel through this site's own domain to PostHog's US servers, where PostHog processes them under the [PostHog privacy policy](https://posthog.com/privacy). It does **not** record your session (session replay is switched off in the site's code), it runs no surveys, and it honors a Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser or an extension — with either set, it collects nothing.

## Your cart and browsing tools

The cart, the compare list and the recently-viewed strip are stored in your browser's local storage, on your device — we can't read them, and clearing your browser data clears them. We also keep a small first-party "first touch" record there: a random visit id, your landing page, and any campaign parameters. It stays on your device — the visit id is the same one sent to Analytics above, and _only_ if you start a checkout does it ride along to Shopify so an order can be tied back to the campaign that produced it.

## Checkout

When you check out, your cart items are passed to **Shopify**, our commerce provider, and you complete the purchase on Shopify's hosted checkout at **shop.solarthingz.com**. The name, address and payment details you enter there are collected and processed by Shopify under the [Shopify privacy policy](https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy); we receive the order details we need to fulfill and support your order. Larger and custom orders still go through the quote desk (below).

First-party analytics identifiers (the Google Analytics and PostHog ids described above) are attached to the order so we can tie it back to the campaign and the browsing session that produced it. They are random ids — they do not carry your name, email or payment details.

## Quotes and contact

When you send the quote form, what you enter (your name, email, phone and the job details) is sent from this site's own server to our sales desk at [sales@ledlighting-solutions.com](mailto:sales@ledlighting-solutions.com) and to JBC Growth, the agency that runs this storefront for us. The email is delivered by **Resend**, our email provider, and a copy is stored, **encrypted**, with **Vercel**, our hosting provider, so a request can't be lost if an email fails; only we can decrypt it. We use what you send to answer and follow up on your request, keep it as long as we need it for that, and you can ask us to delete it (see Questions below). The footer newsletter signup records your email address the same way, then opens a pre-filled email for you to send to our sales desk, with a copy to JBC Growth; we add you to our list by hand and you can unsubscribe by replying.

## Embedded videos

Some product pages include click-to-play YouTube videos. When such a video scrolls into view, a still preview image (the poster thumbnail) is loaded from YouTube's image CDN (i.ytimg.com), which lets Google see your IP address and user-agent. The video player itself is served from the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain and does not load until you press play; from that point YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
